This CD is great to use with kids, especially those who are new to square dancing. The calls are clear and easy to follow, and the CD insert gives the meanings of the calls if you don't know them already. I've used it with 3-12 year olds with much success.

I'm an elementary school physical education teacher, always on the lookout for good square dance discs. Although I call my own dances to instrumental only discs, occasionally I like to get a disc with calls done for me. This is the WORST square dance disc I've ever heard! The band is bad enough, but Slim calls the dances in the most hideous off key monotone... and he sounds bored doing it to boot! Don't way you weren't warned!

Will be very good for parties where persons attending have little or no square dance training since movements are very limited and can be leart quickly. Not a CD for serious square dance beginners since not all the calls are those specified by Callerlab.

Calls were clear and easy to follow. Very good for private parties or professional square dancers alike.

Our homeschool group just had a successful Family Square Dance (beginners only) for all ages (school-age & adult) using only this CD and some in-person instructions taken pretty much directly off the CD insert. I played the "facilitator" (Slim does the actual "calling" and the music is fun)by introducing the song, reading some instructions from the insert and occassionally using our mike to voice over "more instructions" when things seemed to bog down - but for the most part we had a great time and couldn't have done it without this very inexpensive CD. Professional callers can be big bucks but if your group is beginner and you just want some good family fun this is your ticket! :-)

This tape is very good for someone who wants to begin square dancing and those who have experience. We had a lot of fun with it at a family party!

Wanted to see if I had any memory of Square dancing. This is very basic but nicely done.

This VHS tape cassette is a nice introduction to Square Dancing but although 65 mainstream moves are mentioned in the description, a very few are actually covered. We expected much more. There certainly was enough room for more tape on the cassette to instruct many more moves and for the price, it should have been there.

This video by Christy Lane (famous dancer and judge) covers 4 dance styles: Two-Step Triple Step Waltz (any 3-step, including country, etc) East Coast Swing Covers lead & follow techniques, correct posture, how to hold your partner, turns, spins, and several other intermediate and advanced moves as well.

This book is truly for the person that wants to be one with their horse. This author deeply understands the horse. It's probably not the book for someone who is just a weekend rider and keeps their horse at the local barn for lessons and occasional shows. If you REALLY want to know and communicate with your horse, read this book.

It's been a while since I read this book, but after finding it in my stack, I decided to browse its pages again. I think the more techniques you learn, the better you can communicate with your horse. I'm only beginning as a dressage rider, but every morsel of information is vital. An excellent addition to your dressage library. R.D. Hot on the Range

I purchased this item based on the feedback -- feedback from others is a useful tool. I was looking for a HOW TO program, but instead received a 60 minute infomercial on Hempfling's work with horses. This should have been free. So, if you are looking for a HOW TO, this is not for you. If you want to pay $30 plus for a promo on horse instruction, this is as good as any others.

I thoroughly enjoyed the first half of this book and found it inspirational and motivational in many regards. The idea that, when correctly done, working with horses is "always beautiful" is a wonderful concept that I find handy to keep in mind. The author obviously loves horses and I suspect that he is a very good trainer. The concept that we must "communicate with our horses" is not a new one however, and the exercises, I felt, really were a disappointment after reading the first half of the book. The exercises are not new, at least to me, and I believe they are much better and more thoroughly explained in other works. Doing "round pen" exercises in a square pen is really irrelevant to the outcome. I suspect that those who have worked and trained horses with success already know how to achieve the results professed in this book and those that don't yet have the knowledge and experience would probably be better served with books which spell out individual lessons in a more clear and concise manner. Still, I admire the author and the love and respect that he clearly holds for horses and I regret not being able to give this book a 5-star rating. But, there are other books out there that "train the trainer" much better. I wish you all success and beauty with your horses.

Best book about handling horses i ever read. And I've read them all. I've learned a lot from Mark Rashid and Henry Blake, and others, but this is the book that made a huge change in my relationship with my horse. The book has concentrated information, so you have to read it more than once. Doing a lot of the ground exercises was a lot of fun and made my relationship with my horse SO much more pleasurable. A lot of it was mostly like playing. Very fun for my horse too. I don't remember reading any propaganda about long backed horses, but that wasn't what the book is about. The photographs are excellent for illustrating the text. There are 'students' at his clinic who provide some case histories for the book, and help illustrate different problems in the photos. I got the DVD - its not a substitute for the book and I felt I didn't learn so much from it, even though it was fun to watch the beautiful riding. Thanks, Klaus, from the bottom of my heart.

I am a begining square dancer and was fortunate enough to discover this DVD on Amazon. I find it extremely helpful as a supplement to my own lessons. Also makes a great gift for my square dancing buddies.

The Traveling Hoedowners have produced an outstanding instructional DVD for beginning square dancers! The basic and mainstream dance steps are very clearly demonstrated by this fine group of square dancers. The DVD is especially helpful to me as I have had some memory loss. I or anyone else can go over any square dance call as ofter as needed to get it memorized. (Additionally, I received my DVD very quickly. I ordered it on a Friday and received it the following Monday.) Thank you to The Traveling Hoedowners!

I have the privilege to have a professional Square Dancer in my church. Her dancing days were after WWII so it's been awhile but listening to her stories you can tell she loved to dance. After seeing the Traveling Hoedowners on Youtube I knew I hit paydirt because they know how to do it right!. After getting the Party she was in tears of joy!!! The speed of the shipment was very fast and I was surprised to see my package in the mailbox. The Square Dance party pack is great because you can listen to the caller and music or watch the DVD's and see the awesome dancers. Great price for what you get thanks Traveling Hoedowners

This was a very cute halloween outfit for my 2.5 year old. Don't forget to buy a hat and the cowboy boots!

I purchased this darling costume for my six year old granddaughter. Since we live 7 hours apart, I was unable to see this costume first hand. I know that she was thrilled with this adorable outfit for her Trick or Treating! Fit was true to size.

This scarf is absolutely brilliant in color and beauty. It is very large and works well as a head scarf (for which my mother wanted it for) but now has worn it instead with a blouse and sweater. The colors are bright and gentle. Not at all a cheesy feeling but instead class. The packaging was beautiful and I instantly regretteted opening it but had to see what it looked like. It was the perfect gift and she was thrilled.
